About Vi Laux
Growing up in the foothills of the Allegheny’s, Vi Laux developed a love for nature
early in life as she strolled through the forested land around her home in Bedford
county. She especially enjoyed studying the color and delicate shape of the perky
wildflowers that punctuated the surrounding greenery, and despite their delicacy,
stood obstinately amidst rough bark and harsh rock.
Vi left that rural setting when she moved to Pittsburgh to attend the Art Institute
of Pittsburgh, but she took her love for a profusion of color and flowing freeform
line with her. It was here, as she studied Interior Design, that she was introduced
to the exquisite work of Louis Comfort Tiffany used in so many grand Victorian and
Arts & Crafts homes. She saw in his work, that same natural play of color and
form she had grown to love back home.
After raising her family, Vi found time to study the art of stained glass. Here
she could again work with that same brilliance of color and flowing line. As she
developed her skills, she began to experience special moments, “Tiffany” moments,
when the color and line magically came together giving her a deep sense of fulfillment.
At times like this she would declare, “I’m having a ‘Tiffany moment”! Hence, she
has called her business, Tiffany Moments.
Vi has recently expanded her artisan skills to include fused glass, but even in
this new medium, she continues to capture the same freedom of flowing natural lines
and saturation of color seen in Tiffany's classical art glass, while creating her
own unique and innovative pieces. Whether she is designing custom window panels
to enhance and personalize your home or creating a billowing fused glass vase to
grace your table, Vi works with the best art glass available to today's market and
each piece is carefully and specifically in her quest for yet another “Tiffany”
moment.
